The Mediation Process: Mediation follows carefully designed steps.
Reaching a resolution depends on adhering to a formalised process that moves through several stages.
The stages are structured procedures, and Lloyd Mediation utilises a set of protocols to enable a focus on the issues in dispute.
How we work
Step One: Preliminaries
- An initial agreement to mediate is concluded.
- Parties attend a preliminary conference to set the agenda.
- At this time all relevant documents and statements are exchanged, and the logistics of the mediation session are agreed upon.
Step Two: Process
- During mediation, the parties work through an agreed agenda.
- This provides the chance to express their difficulties, their interests and their needs.
- Under the facilitation of the mediator, the parties move proactively towards a mutually agreed resolution.
Step Three: Agreement
- This serves as a point of closure, and as a point of departure.
- The agreement is a formalised reminder of common ground.
- It may specify time frames, measurable results, performances to be achieved, and also provisions to promote the restored relationship.
